IN the 10 years 1946 to 1955, 816 cases of intra-ocular foreign body were admitted to Moorfields Eye Hospital, and 272 of them, which are analysed in this report, have been followed up for at least 3 years, no other method of selection being used. If the out-patient notes were not sufficiently up to date, a letter was written to the patient at his last known address asking him to re-attend for examination, and in some instances other hospitals kindly supplied recent information on transfer cases. The average period offollowup was 5 years (range 3-10).
